  A video which captured the moment Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi received a rousing welcome while being ushered in at the ongoing Nigeria Bar Association general conference in Lagos, has been shared online.    Asides Peter Obi, three other leading presidential candidates, Atiku Abubakar of PDP, Bola Tinubu of APC and Rabiu Kwankwaso of NNPP were also invited. Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar are the only presidential candidates who have arrived venue of the conference at the time of filing this report.

Market leader shot dead by gunmen in Benue State shortly after he allegedly complained of harrasment and threats from unknown persons

Gunmen in the late hours of Monday killed the Chairman of Shade Owners Association, Zaki Biam Yam Market, in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. It was gathered that the gunmen invaded the residence of the deceased identified as Tavershima Achinge, and shot him dead. According to Punch, a relation who did not want to be named said the deceased had just returned home after the day’s job before the gunmen arrived. “It was not long he came back from the market that those gunmen invaded his house and shot him at close range. The sporadic gunshots scared away people within the neighborhood, this made it easy for the gunmen to escape. By the time, the dust settled , people ran to the scene to see what happens , it was the lifeless body of Achinge that they met in a pool of blood. According to Vanguard, tens of protesters on Wednesday, stormed the headquarters of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) in Abuja demanding an investigation into allegations of bribery levelled against the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole during the recently concluded nationwide primary elections of the party. The protesters who were led by Barr. Stanley Onu under the auspices of Coalition for a New Nigeria (CNN) said the protest was in their  “quest to arrest the dangers faced by our party, the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, occasioned by the integrity challenged National Chairman, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole” . Lagos State arrest 30 wheel barrow pushers days after banning their activities

The Lagos State Government arrested 30 cart pushers for dumping refuse indiscriminately on road medians in some areas of the State in the middle of the night. . Chairman of the State’s Task Force on Environmental and Other Special Offences (Enforcement Unit), SP Olayinka Egbeyemi, said the arrest was in line with the recent ban on the activities of cart pushers and wheel barrow operators by the State Government. . Egbeyemi, who affirmed that the activities of cart pushers in the State are illegal, said investigations found them culpable in dumping refuse on the road side especially at night thereby sabotaging efforts by the Government to keep the State clean. .   President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, called on the government and people of Benue State to exercise restraint following the recent attacks on some communities, assuring that all the perpetrators of violence in the state will be made to face the wrath of the law.
