Tuesday, November 15, 2016 Missing Nigerian photo journalist Yinka Adeparusi found dead

Yinka Adeparusi, an award-winning Nigerian photo-journalist with online publication, Naij.com earlier declared missing, has died.Naij announced in a statement published on its website that Mr. Adeparusi was killed in a motorcycle crash on Sunday, November 13th. Read their statement after the cut.."NAIJ.com confirmed that he was involved in a motorcycle accident in Abuja and died on the spot," the statement said.Mr. Adeparusi left his residence in Abuja suburb of Kugbo on Sunday afternoon with a message that he will be back. But when he didn’t return, his neighbours and later his colleagues became worried, especially when they couldn’t reach him on the phone."This was quite unusual because Yinka was a soft-spoken, very professional and clear-headed individual; not the kind of person to wander off," Naij.com saidAdeparusi graduated from Lagos State University School of Communication, where he bagged double honours in Photojournalism and Cinematography and minor in mass communication.In 2013, he received the People’s Choice Award for Human Rights Photography in Africa, German Development Media Awards and was the winner of the photojournalism award of the 6th Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting.

I work for Lagos policeman, says suspected robber April 11, 2016

 Afeez Hanafi A 21-year-old suspected robber, Akeem Popoola, says a police inspector attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, uses him to swindle unsuspecting victims. He said he had worked for the policeman, identified as Inspector Festus, aka Ijaya, for about four months before he was arrested. The carpenter, who is currently in custody at the Agbado divison, Ogun State, was arrested for robbery and burglary. A mattress and speakers of a sound system were reportedly recovered from him in the Giwa area of Agbado on April 6. He told PUNCH Metro that apart from burglary, he used to collect phones from the inspector and he would later sell them. He added that Ijaya and two others – Abbey and Aluko – would get the buyers arrested minutes later for buying stolen items. Police arrest Lagos prince, others during cult initiation

The suspects The Anti-Robbery Squad of the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba, Lagos, has arrested a Lagos prince, Wale Jimoh, and seven others. The police said the suspects were arrested during initiation rites of the Eiye Confraternity in the Jakande Roundabout, Small Kuramo, Lekki. Jimoh’s father is said to be the traditional ruler of a community in the area. Other suspected members of the confraternity group include; Frank Mafiana (32), Robert Williams (34), Koko Etim (25), Ibrahim Ogunkoya (21), Stephen Anoh (27), Adekunle Mayegun (25), and Moris Gordian (27). PUNCH Metro learnt that the men had organised a party at a bar owned by their gang leader, Mafiana, and decided to use the occasion to initiate Ogunkoya.
