New Mercedes S-Class convertibles, others for Frankfurt fair

In a couple of days, the 2015 edition of the Frankfurt motor
show will be declared open in one the biggest German cities and
expectedly, the attention of players in the auto industry and fans
of freshly manufactured automobiles will shift to the global
event.
The 66th IAA (Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung —
International Automobile Exhibition), considered the world’s
largest motor fair, will showcase the latest trends and
technological highlights of the automotive year for the year.
When the auto fair centre is open next week Tuesday, auto
journalists from different parts of the world will be the first to
see and possibly feel the new vehicles as it is customary of
such global auto exhibitions.
The IAA 2015 press days are given as September 15 and 16,
2015; the trade days are fixed for September 17 and 18, 2015;
and public days are on September 19 to 27, 2015, according to
the organisers.
Expectations are high that Mercedes Benz will lead other auto
manufacturers in unveiling new vehicles at the auto show.
Germany is the home to Mercedes Benz like the BMW. And
experts expect the auto manufacturing firm to seize the
opportunity of the fair taking place in its domain to attempt to
outshine other players attending the event.
An online auto journal, Car Magazine, in its list of 25
automakers coming for the show, says Mercedes will introduce
at least three new products at the 2015 Frankfurt fair.
While most other automakers have one vehicles with few getting
two listed against their names as new product, only Mercedes
Benz and BMW have three premium cars for the show.
From the
Mercedes-
Benz are the
2017 S-Class
Cabriolet; C-
Class Coupe;
and C63 AMG
Coupe.
A report by
Carbuz.com
says
Mercedes-
Benz and
Mercedes-
AMG have
dropped the
top on their
newest
flagship
convertibles:
the S550 and
S63 Cabriolets
to bring something exceptional to the auto industry.
It notes that the S-Class Cabriolet is the first S-Class convertible
in 44 years.
“The new S-Class Cabriolet symbolises our passion for
individual and timelessly exclusive mobility, which we share with
our customers,” it quotes Mercedes as saying in a statement.
The fourth variant of the current S-Class, its spec is almost
unchanged from the coupe, with the AWD S550’s V8 offering
449hp V8 and 516lb-ft of torque.
According to the automaker, this is mated to a new 9G-tronc
nine-speed automatic and arrives with a standard Airmatic semi-
active air suspension.
It says for the 5.5-litre V8 biturbo-equipped Mercedes-AMG S63
4MATIC Cabriolet comes with an AWD system, 577hp and
664lb-ft of torque as well as the coupe’s 7-speed AMG Speed
shift transmission. Differentiating them from the coupe models,
the cabriolets comes with a “fully pyrotechnic” roll over
protection system.
The top can be lowered or raised in less than 20 seconds and at
speeds of up to 37 mph. Aerodynamics remain nearly
unchanged, with the cabriolet returning a CoD of 0.9.
The new S-Class Cabriolet has AirScarf neck heater and the new
Thermotronic climate feature, which employs 12 sensors and 18
actuators to take over the HVAC system and make it “the
world’s most comfortable convertible.”
The C-Class Couple is also a unique model. A report by another
online auto journal, Auto Authority, says the new Mercedes-Benz
C-Class Coupe has arrived and it is set to make a huge impact
in the luxury coupe segment.
“The handsome looks, plush interior and impeccable engineering
have been packaged in an even sexier two-door body,” it states.
As a 2017 model, the new C-Class Coupe matches the look of
the stunning S-Class Coupe, the reviewer adds.
Based on Mercedes’ MRA modular platform for rear-wheel-drive
autos, the new C-Class Coupe should be lighter than the
outgoing model, with improvement in acceleration, braking,
handling and fuel economy.
The car is also bigger than its predecessor: length is up by 3.7
inches and the width is up by 1.6 inches.
This results in increased space for the driver and front
passenger in particular, though there is more shoulder room,
elbow room and headroom for all occupants.
Mercedes-AMG is also bringing the C63 Coupé Edition 1 special
model to the starting line at the Frankfurt motor show, says
netcar.com.
The special model is equipped with Performance seats and an
aerodynamics package highlighting its proximity to motorsport.
The new Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupé and C63 S Coupé are also
available as “Edition 1” special models from market launch.
It says the extraordinary combination of exclusive design and
equipment characteristics is inspired by the optical appearance
of future Mercedes-AMG racing coupés which will compete in
the popular DTM series in 2016.
