Students feed female colleague with Indian-hemp cake

Delta State Commissioner of Police, AlkaliUsman

POLICE detectives attached to the Delta State Police Command,
Asaba, have arrested three male students of the Delta State
University, Abraka, following the allegation that they fed a
female colleague with cake laced with Indian hemp.
The state Police Commissioner, Alkali Usman, who confirmed
this to our correspondent in Asaba, said one of the suspects, an
undergraduate of the university, Bassey Aniekan, upon
interrogation confessed to have fed a 17-year-old female
colleague with a cake baked with Indian hemp.
Usman said the undergraduate was arrested for allegedly giving
the female cake laced with Indian hemp, adding that Aniekan ran
into trouble after the victim started behaving abnormally and
was rushed to a privately-owned hospital for treatment.
Stating that the suspects were helping the police in their
investigation, the state police commissioner said a male student
from the same university reported to the police in Abraka Police
Division that Aniekan allegedly offered a cake baked with Indian
hemp to a female student.
He added that Aniekan confessed after interrogation that he
added Indian hemp to the ingredients used in baking the cake to
hoodwink the girl into relationship.
Aniekan, identified as a 200 level student of Department of
Economics, had allegedly been a leader of a cult group
terrorising the university and its environs.
