Pillars beat Shooting Stars 4-1

Kano – Kano Pillars FC on Sunday defeated visiting Shooting
Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan 4-1 in the ongoing Nigeria
Professional Football League in Kano.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the match was in the
week 23 of the 2014/2015 NPFL, played at the Sani Abacha
Stadium, Kano.
Pillars striker, Adamu Muhammad, scored the opening goal in
the 30th minute to take his season’s tally to six goals and
Moses Ekpai doubled the lead in the 43rd minute.
The defending champions continued domination, which paid off
again in the 72nd minute, when Tony Edsomariegwe extended
the lead with a solo effort.
Rabiu Ali of Pillars wrapped up with the fourth goal in the 89th
minute via a 35 meter shot to the cheering of the home fans.
Ajani Ibrahim scored a consolation goal for the visitors in the
90th minute.
Gbenga Ogunbote, coach of the Ibadan-based side, said he was
satisfied with the performance of the boys. “We lost to a good
side and my team will continue to work hard to win our next
match’’.
Ogunbote, then commended the referee, Abass Mohammed
from Niger State for good officiating.
Meanwhile, Pillars handler, Babaganaru Muhammad, said he
was impressed with the performance of his team so far in the
league.
“I am very happy with the result so far. We will continue to work
hard to win our next game against Enyimba. I am optimistic that
the commitment from my team will see us through this season’’.
NAN reports that Pillars will next visit League leaders, Enyimba
of Aba in a week 24 match during the midweek.
Kano Pillars now have 37 points from 23 matches played so far
in the league.
