DPO dies in Bauchi

A Superintendent of Police, with the Bauchi State Police
Command, Andy Audu, died on Friday, the command has said.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the
command, Haruna Mohammed, made available to journalists in
Bauchi on Saturday, indicated that the deceased, who was the
Divisional Police Officer of Kirfi Division, died after a brief illness.
He added that his body had been deposited at the Mortuary for
postmortem.
He said: “The Bauchi State Police Command regrets to
announce the sudden death of the DPO, Kirfi Division, SP Andy
Audu, who was certified dead by a medical doctor at ATBU
Teaching hospital, Bauchi on Friday at about 22:00hrs (10pm),
after a brief illness.
“His corpse was deposited at the Mortuary for postmortem
examination.
“He was born in 1967 and joined the Nigeria Police Force as a
Cadet inspector in 1992.
“He will be buried at his hometown, Otukpo in Benue State on
the August 29.
“May his soul rest in peace.”

Hotel owners forum lament multiple taxation By NAN

Image; mabuku The Hotel Owners Forum Abuja (HOFA), has decried the issue of multiple taxation imposed on its members by government. The President of HOFA, Dr Bola Onigbogi made this known at the annual dinner of the forum in Abuja on Friday. She said that because if the visibility of hotel business, it was easy for government agencies to track them down for the enforcement of numerous taxes. “ A quick count of the amount of taxes we pay shows that we pay over 30 different taxes in Abuja. Can anyone survive this onslaught? Can any business survive under this regulatory environment? The answer is no. “`The year started with a 40 per cent increase on our electricity tariffs, then we were asked to pay an additional five per cent of our revenue to a new body call FCT Entertainment and Events Centre Department. “We have had to enter into discussion with Abuja Municipal Council to discuss some of these tariffs and taxes that they have levied on us this year. ...

Anti-Oshiomhole Protesters Storm ICPC, Demand Probe Of APC Chair Over Alleged Corruption

According to Vanguard, tens of protesters on Wednesday, stormed the headquarters of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) in Abuja demanding an investigation into allegations of bribery levelled against the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole during the recently concluded nationwide primary elections of the party. The protesters who were led by Barr. Stanley Onu under the auspices of Coalition for a New Nigeria (CNN) said the protest was in their  “quest to arrest the dangers faced by our party, the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, occasioned by the integrity challenged National Chairman, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole” .
