Key energy industry summit resumes in Lagos Okoro Chinedu

Lagos - The West African Power Industry Convention (WAPIC)
resumes this morning in Lagos where some 1 800 power
professionals have converged.
The  conference and expo which will once again gather
government, utilities, consultants and investors to discuss the
challenges of local markets, capacity building and investment.
The Federal Ministry of Power has endorsed the event.
Once again, WAPIC is enjoying overwhelming support from the
industry with the global networking and telecommunications
giant, Huawei, having already confirmed that it is returning as
the exclusive diamond sponsor.
Eko Electricity Distribution Company, MEMMCOL and Mojec
International are platinum sponsors while Ecobank and
Siemens are gold sponsors.

Celebrated Chief Executive Officer of Seplat Petroleum
Development Company, Austin Avuru, and Andela co-founder,
Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, are some of the high-level experts and
industry stalwarts who will address the opening session of the
12th edition of the event.
Other speakers include Shi Weiliang (Vice President of West &
Central African Regions, Huawei Technologies, China), Eyo
Ekpo (former Commissioner, National Energy Regulatory
Commission) Olufunke Jones (Country Head, Power and
Energy, Ecobank Nigeria) and Robert Dickerman (Managing
Director / Chief Executive Officer, Enugu Electricity Distribution
Company).
The second edition of the eagerly-anticipated West African
Power Industry Awards gala dinner will also take place on
Tuesday evening when industry pioneers and projects will be
recognised and celebrated in seven different categories.
Meanwhile, the WAPIC expo floor will showcase the latest
technologies and services for the industry.
The West African Power Industry Convention is organised by
Spintelligent, leading Cape Town-based trade exhibition and
conference organiser, and the African office of Clarion Events
