Chairman Of Transition Committee Killed In Plateau

Hosea Azi, the newly appointed transition committee
chairman of Jos East local government area of Plateau
state, has been reportedly kidnapped and murdered.
Speaking with Premium Times, family sources said that Azi
was kidnapped on Friday, December 11, along Miango road,
in Kufang, near former NYSC Secretariat in Jos South local
government area of the state.
According to the sources, the politician died alongside four
of the six abductors after the car in which they were driving
him away got involved in an accident in Keffi, Nasarawa
state.
However, the police have not yet confirmed the incident.
When contacted, Abuh Emmanuel, the state police public
relations officer, requested more time to gather information
on the matter.

Meanwhile, the family sources said that two of the suspects,
who survived in the accident, confessed to the crime while
receiving treatment in an unnamed hospital in Keffi.
It would be recalled that the late Hosea Azi was appointed
the transition committee chairman of Jos East on Thursday,
following the removal of his predecessor, Sanda Agwom.
Earlier this week, Ifiok Umanah, the elder brother to Akwa
Ibom state commissioner for information, Aniekan Umanah
was kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
According to eyewitnesses, Umanah’s abductors shot
sporadically into the air to scare away passersby before they
took him away.
