PDP drags Kebbi governor to court
Birnin Kebbi - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has
dragged Gov Atiku Baguda of Kebbi State to court for alleged
money laundering, reports New Telegraph.
The party in the suit filed at Federal High Court sitting in Abuja
is asking the court to annul the election of Baguda for lying in
the Form C.F. 001 he filed before the Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC) that he has never been sentenced
or convicted for any offence by a court of law.
The suit was filed by the party’s candidate in the April
11 governorship election in state, Bello Sarkin Yaki and two
others.

They noted that contrary to the claim by the governor that he
has never been convicted, he was arrested in Houston, Texas
in the United States of America on May 22, 2003 based on
extradition warrant requested by Britain on behalf of Isle of
Jersey.
They said the governor is wanted in Britain on three count
charge of fraudulent transfer of money from Nigeria to
Deutsche Bank.
They, therefore, asked the court to nullify and void all rights,
benefits or privileges conferred on or accorded Bagudu as
governor of Kebbi State.
They also requested the court to declare as wasted, all votes
garnered by the governor, at the April 11 gubernatorial election
in Kebbi State and declare Yari, the PDP candidate, who came
second, as the actual winner of the election.
The case comes up this Thursday, December 10.
