Governor’s Gift Tears Akwa United

Some members of the Nigeria Federation Cup champions,
Akwa United Football Club, are in serious tussle, saying
they have been side-lined from the largesse of the teams
victory.
Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom had donated two
million naira each and apartment reward to players and
officials of the club which is already causing division in the
team
In a dinner held in honour of the club for their feat, Governor
Udom disclosed that the reward is for players, technical
crew and six other persons only.
Governor Udom speaks to the team at the dinner.
However, Sahara Reporters Sport revealed that some
members have complained bitterly not having their names
included, despite being part of the team.
A source said: “It’s been joy turned soar for me, my family and
some other persons in the club.
“Do you know that some persons and I, who laboured to see
this feat come to past, had our names missing from the list that
was forwarded to the Akwa Ibom State government for
approval?

“This will create disharmony in the club, as we feel we ought to
have been treated fairly like the players, coaches too, however,
there’s nothing much that we can do but blame the club
management for playing lip service regarding this matter.”
The Uyo based team won the Federation Cup for the first
time when they managed to edge out Lobi Stars 2 – 1. The
feat also ensured their inclusion in CAF Confederations Cup
next season.
